I wonder if any kid has happy memories of elementary school. It seemed like pure social torture to me, and many failed attempts to figure out how to “fit in.”
Who were the kids that “fit”, and why? And then why did all the rest of us scramble about, trying to get their approval and acceptance. It could be age, race, religion, body size, that gets us in, or out.
As an adult, I find it amusing to see how in certain groups, circumstances, and cultures, I fit in very well, and am “noticed”…and then in others, I seem invisible and insignificant.
Thank god I don’t care so much these day as I did in elementary school!
